Audeze EL-8 Magnetic Planar Headphones Released – Finally an Affordable Audeze Headphone
Early this year, we have seen Audeze’s latest headphones that are not only more affordable compared to the LCD series, but also more fashionable looking as well – the Audeze EL-8 Magnetic Planar Headphones. The Audeze EL-8 is available in closed back and open back for the same price of $699. You read that right; usually Audeze’s headphones will cost you more than a thousand bucks, but not these two pair of cans. Not only that they are more affordable, but they are also more fashionable and comfortable to wear. However it doesn’t mean that the new EL-8 sounds inferior compared to their big brother. New technologies were used in the EL-8 series to make it possible.
Audeze EL-8 Features
The Audeze EL-8 Magnetic Planar Headphones are a remarkable achievement in engineering, comfort and style. Its performance surpasses anything on the market in its price range. The iconic industrial design is by BMW DesignWorks USA. The EL-8 features all of our technologies including Fluxor magnetics, Uniforce diaphragms and Fazor elements delivering deep bass, an engaging midrange, and a sweet, detailed top end with no breakup modes. The closed-back model has all the sonic benefits of the open-back model and provides a quiet listening environment, even in noisy areas, to fully enjoy music with virtually no ambient noise. The EL-8 is sensitive enough to be driven directly by portable players and sounds even better with an external amplifier.
The new EL-8 series uses three patent-pending technologies. These are the Fazor elements, Fluxor Magnetic structure and Uniforce diaphragms. The Fazors are special acoustical elements positioned on either side of the magnetic structure. They enhance transparency by affecting the sound waves generated by large planar diaphragms. A few of the benefits include extended frequency response, improved high-frequency extension, and lowered distortion, with better imaging. The Fluxor Magnetic technology on the other hand delivers nearly double the magnetic flux density of the highest-grade neodymium magnetic circuits available. This remarkable achievement results in reduced weight with greater efficiency to work with mobile devices. Finally the Uniforce diaphragm employs an industry first – variable trace widths in the voice-coil to effectively capture variations in the magnetic field within the magnetic gaps by equalizing the forces of the individual traces, creating a uniform driving force across the entire diaphragm surface. This results in dramatically reduced distortion, higher resolution and improved imaging.
