Cayin N5ii Portable DAP – See Features and Specs

Cayin has a new portable digital audio player, and it’s the Cayin N5ii or N5 2nd Gen. It’s basically the successor of the Cayin N5, featuring a totally different design and user interface. It’s somewhat similar to the Cayin i5, the company’s first Android based DAP. At this point I’m not sure whether the Cayin N5ii is better or a few steps down compared to the i5 in terms of audio quality and sound performance. But it looks like the Cayin N5ii looks better in my opinion and probably has better set of features (other than sound). The company plans to release the Cayin N5ii by December 2017. More details below…

Cayin N5ii Android Based Master Quality Digital Audio Player

The Cayin N5ii will run on a custom Android 5.1 operating system with “Audio Priority” feature. The DAP itself is powered by a Rockchip RK3188 MCU with 1G DDR3 memory and a 32GB of internal storage; plus two microSD card slots supporting up to 256GB of microSDXC card each. The DAC section is handled by an ESS9018K2M DAC chip, paired with three OPA1622 Op-Amps.

In terms of connectivity options, it has both a 3.5mm unbalanced (line out shared) and 2.5mm balanced output ports; coaxial, USB audio in/out via USB Tyce (USB2.0) port; and it will also have WiFi 802.11 b/g/n 2.4GHz and Bluetooth 4.0. It will be powered by a 3000mAH battery with an expected play time of up to 12 hours.

Additional specifications regarding the output ports can be read below. Also, Headfonia has uploaded a video giving us a first look on the actual unit itself and additional information regarding the Cayin N5ii. Watch it below.

At this point, Cayin hasn’t confirmed its retail price yet.
