The Bit Opus#2 Hi-Res Portable Digital Audio Player Now Available in US – See Features, Specs and Price
The Bit’s latest Portable Digital Audio Player or DAP – Opus#2, is now out and available in the US. The Opus#2 is currently the company’s flagship portable MQS audio player, following the success of their Opus#1. Oh, by the way, Audio-Opus also released a metal version of the Opus#1 that comes with an improved amplifier section. Going back to topic, the new Opus#2 features an all-metal Aluminum CNC body, 32bit/384kHz high resolution playback, native DSD playback, 4-inch touchscreen IPS display, real dual DAC ES9018K2M SABARE32 and many more, including wireless connection which was lacking on its predecessor. The dual ES9018K2M is expected to be a huge upgrade from the Opus#1’s dual CS4398 from Cirrus Logic. More details regarding the new Opus#2 below.
Opus#2 Hi-Res MQS DAP Features
The Bit seems to be fond us using dual DAC setup on their digital audio players. This is good because dual DAC (or even a quad DAC) setup is better than a single DAC in a sense that there are more DAC chips running in parallel, thus reducing those unwanted noise.
The Opus#2’s audio section is powered with two ES9018K2M SABRE32 DACs that supports up to 32bit 382kHz audio and native DSD playback. Meanwhile the Opus#2, itself, is powered by an ARM Cortex-A9 quad core CPU clocked at 1.4GHz and is paired with 1GB of memory. It’s running on a heavily modified Android 5.1.1.
It supports popular audio formats like WAV, FLAC, ALAC, AIFF, WMA, MP3, OGG, APE and DSD (DFF,DSF). In terms of storage, it has an internal memory of 128GB that can be expanded up to 200GB via a microSD card slot. The Opus#2 has a 3.5mm headphone out that also acts as an optical out and a 2.5mm balanced out, similar to the Opus#1 output setup. In addition to those, the Opus#2 now has wireless connectivity options like WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth v4.0 with BLE support. The Opus#2 is powered by a 4,000mAh 3.7V non-removable Li-Polymer battery and features an ultra-power saving mode.
Aesthetically speaking, the Opus#2 DAP features an all-Aluminum metal body that measures 76mm x 124mm x 18.3mm and weighs 252 grams. It features a 4-inch IPS touch display with a resolution of 480×800. The Power On/Off button is ideally located to switch on and off the device with only one finger. Power button is also used to wake your set up from the Sleep mode. Control buttons are ergonomically designed and positioned to provide a full control over the device holding it in one hand. Meanwhile, volume control wheel is very smooth and comfortable to handle as well as very detailed to reach that necessary level of volume. 1-150 volume steps may be controlled without turning screen on.
